Passion & Frustration Displayed as David Banner and Lyfe Jennings Debate Solutions for the Community at “Strategy For Change” Forum Hosted by Rickey Smiley

You may see short clips floating around the internet from a forum held tonight in Decatur, GA which looks as if there is some divisiveness, between David Banner and Lyfe Jennings, but don’t believe the hype!

Comedian and Radio host Rickey Smiley hosted a forum in Decatur, GA tonight at the House of Hope church called, “Strategy For Change”. Young Jeezy, Lyfe Jennings, David Banner, Tyrese Gibson, DC Young Fly, Dr. Bernice King, and Two Chainz among a host of others were participants at this event. WSB-TV posted the short video below on Facebook as the discussion between David Banner and Lyfe Jennings heated up. From this clip, it appears as if David Banner suggested citizens arm themselves against the police and Lyfe Jenning passionately disagreed with Banner’s solution regarding the issue of police brutality.

Here is the short, 32 second clip posted by the television station that made viewers believe there was drama at this event:

Lyfe Jennings: “You Sound Crazy, You Sound Crazy”

David Banner: “That’s fine! What we are going through is crazy”

Lyfe Jennings: “But we arent going to create more crazy by telling these people to bring fucking guns against the police. That’s stupid!”

Tyrese Gibson: “What ya’ll are not going to do is stand up while my daughter is here. Everybody sit down and calm down.”

“There’s a lot of anger, a lot of frustration, a lot of sadness,” one organizer said about what caused tempers to flare.  Let’s discuss what the news didn’t show in it’s entirety below:

Based the comments and tweets of people who were actually at the event, watching 32 – seconds does not provide you with full details.

What we didn’t see the television station report are the the hundreds of comments from the attendees, most of whom stated that the “Strategy for Change” event was productive.  The media also didn’t show David Banner and Lyfe Jennings as they cooled down, shook hands and hugged as the event was ending.

As the media puts their spin on these stories, we have to understand that many people are not going to agree on how we can resolve the issues plaguing our urban communities.  The passion, combined with frustrations, mixed with the tired being sick and tired, is what you see between David Banner and Lyfe Jennings.

Thank you to all of the celebrities and members of that community that took their time in Decatur today to discuss plans of actions.  Big thanks to our Atlanta affiliate and boots on the ground for the details.  Take a look at WSB-TV’s story that was published for the 11:00 news and check out more of what Tweeters had to say below. Don’t forget, David Banner’s next stop is Charleston, S.C., this Saturday!
