In this week’s spotlight of Y.E.S., we decided to spotlight someone who doesnt exactly need the spotlight. But, since the Y.oung E.ntrepreneur S.potlight doesn’t discriminate, we had to celebrate our girl Rihanna! Just when you think Rihanna has been kicked back somewhere basking in some of that bohemian hot sun, smoking ganja, unbothered; turns out the pop princess has been flexing her inner-mogul muscles. Though we have yet to see the highly anticipated album Anti, hit store shelves, the 27 year-old is still making major moves in the entertainment industry. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Riri recently launched two new agencies. These two companies will focus on beauty and photography.

Rihanna along with her partner Benoit Demouy discreetly opened a beauty and stylist agency called Fr8me; Demouy was previously with the Tracey Mattingly agency. Fr8me will be based out of Los Angeles and will assist artists in booking commercials, editorial shoots, ad campaigns and red-carpet gigs. Some of the already familiar faces that will be a part of this new agency are Rihanna’s longtime makeup artist Mylah Morales, Taraji P’s wardrobe stylist Jason Bolden, Fergie, Jada Pinkett Smith and the Smith family.
In Rihanna’s interview with THR, she says “Hair, makeup and styling play an important role in creativity; I am very involved with that part of my process, so this agency was an organic thing for me to do. We are lucky enough to have some of the best artists at Fr8me, but I also have a soft spot for finding new talent with extraordinary skills!”

Along with Fr8me, the Umbrella singer also started a photo agency, calling it “A Dog Ate My Homework” already representing photographers Erik Asla and Deborah Anderson.
Rihanna’s partner Benoit Demouy says that they are aiming to have a stellar reputation, even amidst the ever changing conditions of the industry. Demouy says, “The industry’s changed so much –rates have gone down, and clients just grab images off social media, trying to bypass paying artists.”
Great to see that Rihanna is expanding her horizon and making a business investment in a tough industry that she has conquered numerous times. Rihanna will definitely bring life into the beauty and photography industries, both of which have seen a boom during this internet age. We say good luck to Riri and her crew!
