If you are from the Carolinas and you are closely connected to the music scenes in your city, then you have probably had this conversation a hundred times! “When is an artist from (insert your city) going to blow?” Yes, WE live here, and we know the amount of raw, untouched talent that resides within our region, however what we may or may not know is that there are artists from this region who are currently shaking up the music industry – one hit at a time.

The vlog from Justin Hunt of Hip Hop DX, aka @TheCompanyMan on Twitter, is probably the best, most comprehensive breakdown of the talent that has been the driving force of the Carolina Hip-Hop culture that we have seen to date. Not only does Hunt do a brilliant job of updating us on the progress of some of the top Carolina hip-hop artists, he also addresses a very important issue that we discuss often regarding the music scene – lack of artist collaborations and the crab-in-a-barrel syndrome.

Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think; it’s great to see Carolina native, Justin Hunt pushing the culture forward – this is most definitely what the region needs to see! Shout out to J Cole (fayetteville, NC), Rapsody (Snow Hill, NC), Deniro Farrar (Charlotte, NC), Nick Grant (Walterboro, SC), Tigo B (Raleigh, NC) for blazing trails in a tough industry!
