The No Boys Allowed College Tour is an annual event for middle and high school girls to explore the campuses of Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) throughout the U.S. In April, the NBA Founders (known as “The Quad”) traveled alongside 19 girls to HBCUs in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina during their inaugural tour.

“The opportunity to travel with 19 young, brilliant minds was rewarding and unforgettable,” said Kara P. Simmons, NBA Founder. “These young ladies left each campus feeling empowered and enlightened about their future.”

The second annual NBA Tour is scheduled for April 1-5, 2018. Simmons and her colleagues will announce the HBCU stops duringThe Pep Rally—this comes after tallying votes during “The NBA HBCU Draft” social media campaign. Back in June, while The National Basketball Association’s draft was televised, over 250 people voted for HBCUs to visit in 2018 through SurveyMonkey.com.

Shaylyn Woods, Founder/Parent & Student Liaison of NBA, is a 2010 graduate of Benedict College with hopes of her school making the cut. “The wait is almost over,” she expressed. “But as an HBCU alumna, I’m very happy that our students are able to learn about the traditions and educational opportunities of these historical schools.”

“The Citadel Mall has been very supportive of our mission, and we’re excited about hosting the Pep Rally here for a second year,” Woods added.
