Balance Beams, High Low Bars , Vaults and more importantly the Floor Exercises! Gymnastics is a sport we all have grown to love over the years especially since the Olympic days of Dominque Dawns. And who can forget Gabby Douglas, the young Virginian underdog and the first African American gymnast to win Gold in the Olympic All-Around competition. But wait there is a new face on the up rise and she’s giving a twist to the sport.

UCLA’s new star Sophina Dejesus , the gymnast who’s video went viral! Added some flavor to her floor exercise routine last Saturday by sticking to her culture and a little help from her sister. The star would “Whip, Nae Nae” , “Hit the Quan” in between tumbles and flips all over that mat! And to top it off she “Dabbed’d on em”!. What a great way to show her creativity in such a great sport!.

Her outstanding performance in competition made news on Saturday as her video got the complete attention of Facebook , I can honestly say if you have yet to see this video then you are in for a treat!

Sophina nailed every tumble, flip, split and her LANDINGS! Were amazing, she had the judges totally shocked as it was the first time they had seen the routine but it was the audience that would join in with her throughout the performance!

The senior said this: “I love dancing,” DeJesus said of her decision to try the unorthodox routine. “I wanted to end my senior year with a bang.”

She added: “My sister Savannah is an awesome dancer. She helped me with the choreo and made it more fun.”

And fun she did have and a bang she did deliver and would you believe that this is far from her best event? She’s ACTually an All-around gymnast and the floor exercise was her first one of the season. WOW!..

Oh and she scored PERFECTLY! Winning the competition for UCLA!

I’m excited to see more from her and I’m sure you will to ! so peep that video!

Queen Bey Does it again!

And this time it’s with Red Lobster.
After the surprise release on Tidal of her new video and single “Formation” , Queen Bey talks taking your man to Red Lobster after he umm….well hits it right ( in so many words). Lol. The diva herself has up the sales of the famous restaurant by 33% since the song dropped on Saturday (February 7th) , just the day before the Super Bowl were she would perform the single live for the first time.
The company is even talking on naming the famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits to “Cheddar Bey Biscuits” because of the huge endorsement from the Queen herself. And the crazy thing is Red Lobster had no clue of the song or that they were in the lyrics until they looked to Twitter and Instagram.
Red Lobster’s CEO Kim Lopdrop told USA Today:

“We had nothing to do with the song and had no advance knowledge of it being released. We learned about it by seeing that we were trending as number one on Twitter, which is probably the first time that has ever happened.”

Since then the famous drink the “Bay Breeze” has been changed to the “Bey Breeze” due to the infamous amount of fans the restaurant now has, and with Crabfest already underway and Valentine’s Day around the corner they are sure to have more of an increase in sales soon.

The restaurant trended with over 300,000 mentions, 14,200 likes and 13,600 retweets! And it’s the most they have received in Twitter History. What a movement from the Beyhive! Giving the restaurant fame across the world via social media, and to think the restaurant was having a decline in sales. Well looks like that is all over now. Talks of more changes in the menu are also rumored for the restaurant, so we shall see how strong the movement is.

It Looks like everything is showing up in “50s” from the Super Bowl to the anniversary of the Black Panther Party , it seems as though everyone is celebrating another decade of spectacular history. But it was fifty-one little black girls that would get the opportunity of a lifetime. First Lady Michelle Obama would host “Honoring the Past While Celebrating the Present; 7 Years of Living African American History.”An event that took place at the White House this past Monday in honoring Black History month this February.

First Lady Michelle Obama invited fifty-one local students from across the Washington, DC area to be a part of the celebration. She then also invited some of the most prestigious Black women in dance, who have definitely left their mark on the art of dance. The guest would include: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Judith Jamison, Debbie Allen, the Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Virginia Johnson, and Hip Hop choreographer Fatima Robinson.

The First Lady would meet with the group of guest and then they would split the girls into 3 rooms of the White House for workshops on 3 different styles of dancing. The DMV rapper is at it again with another hot collaboration for fashion this year which is just as dope as the first one. Now, if you know Wale then you are aware that the man is simply “Flyer than the rest of them and he got his Nike Boots on” ( Wale-Nike Boots) and those lyrics to this day are true because the man is always swagged out from suits, jerseys, or a dope pair of sneakers .
His first collection debuted in 2013 with the launch of his first company Wrkng, a company where he released his own collection of beanies which are a favorite accessory of the rappers and myself. Those beanies were DOPE! And definitely are still a must have for the fall and winter season.

Next , was his collaboration for Black Friday with the retailer Villa for the Timberland Gift Box 6 inch boot. The boot dropped November 24th retailing at a price of $200 for men/women and for grade school and toddler sizes at a price of $130 and $85. This collaboration was exclusively to Villa stores as well as the website. Many celebs such as Chris Brown another DMV native would cop the shoes before they were released to the public.

And for Wale’s recent collaboration he would take to Instagram to announce his latest project ( pictured below)

One day you gon all see that , maybe I am stubborn maybe I am odd (to u) but I find great joy in being able to be who I want to be. I live my life for yall. Yall get privacy , you get to sub tweet your significant other without ending up on blogs . Go to airports without being followed for snapchat photoshoots. The last thing I have is what’s inside ME. Idgaf if u don’t like what I like.. It’s for ME not you . There is so much emphasis on “gettin a reply” “getting a follow”. Who cares? It’s so many gems in the music. So much vulnerability in the music. And I do that because yall need it as much as I do. I know I won’t change the world with a poorly written IG post, but maybe it’ll provide some insight as to why I behave like i do. I joke when I got a lot on my mind . I shell up when I’m uncomfortable . BUT through it all I’m honest . True to me. I’m gonna go to strip clubs in gonna go to WWE events.. I’m gonna flirt wit girls and not ask for they number .. Cuz I’m a fuckin weirdo .. Yes. That’s been established since interscope. But again accept me for who I am and not who you want me to be I beg ooooo! Be honest and true .. And they can do nothing to you! 🔵🔵🌙🌙 “Blame Montgomery County school system for the bad grammar ” ok bye

The collaboration is between Wale, Mr. Ryder and Rihanna’s best friend Melissa Ford to design the ski suit. The suits are featrued in two colors, one is pictured below. Also, they will be exclusively released on Everybluemoon.com which is the website created for fans . The rapper also says that there is an Asics sneaker collaboration on the way as well.

And that’s just the fashion of the Wale Takeover…

Now the rapper will be featured on ESPN’s “First Take” with a new theme song “ Every Word Great”, Wale says he was elated to get the call to do the song because the show is a apart of his morning ritual every day. The popular show features Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith alongside Molly Querim .

The DC rapper told Billboard, “Being asked to write the new theme song to First Take is a big deal to me being such a big sports fan & former college athlete,” he tells Billboard. “I was honored when they asked me to write the current one and jumped at the opportunity when they asked if I’d write the new one.”
**If you remember Wale and Stalley teamed up for previous theme song for the show in 2013. ***
Wale also said in his interview about how ESPN has been a part of his life since day one : “I grew up on ESPN and now I’m writing their theme songs? Man, that’s what this whole EveryBlueMoon movement is about. Plus, Skip, Molly and Stephen are family.

Well sports and hip hop fans are definitely excited to hear the new theme song for the show. Preview more behind the scenes and make sure you are prepared for its debut in February.

Relationships, “Situation ships”, Black Love, Trust, Loyalty,
These are all things that are commonly discussed when it comes to dating in the black community. I say black community because there is nothing really on television that tells our story of what “we” deal with when it comes to relationships. Sure you can turn on a reality show on VH1 and proclaim you’re getting a general idea but in reality it’s just scripted ignorance of our culture. Now, I know most of you will disagree with me but that’s fine but I know that what I’m saying is the truth. But I digress and say that as many shows that are on television none of them really hit the nail on what dating as a black person really is like.
Until now that is…and this only airs on the Web!

This line alone had me under the impression that of yet again another show about all of the things that men do wrong as if women have never done anything bad. I just knew that I was about to watch something were black men were going to be bashed like normally by black women. But I was completely wrong!. This show displays ALL sides to the stories that we encounter when we are dating as young black adults.

From the characters ALONE you can find all of them to be relatable.

quincy
Quincy- a young black man who has his own business, whom has made mistakes in his past with his girlfriend Alicia, but own up those mistakes and is striving to give them a better life. He’s the guy we all know that so many people remember his past but because he has a strong woman she was able to change all of that.

alicia

Alicia –a young black woman who is the dedicated girlfriend helping her man with his dream of being an entrepreneur. Yes she has dealt with the things of Quincy’s past but she did what was best for her instead of society. She’s holding a secret from her man because she’s aware of the damage it could cause but she also wants to speak on how she feels about the business. She’s a woman who may have been standing by her man’s side for so long that she has lost part of herself.

jacdson

Jackson- the young black man who has accomplished so much in his career as an investment banker and who has no problem with showing the ladies a great time. He’s that brother who only wants one thing from women and it keeps it extremely honest with them all. Jackson is handsome, successful and far from looking for love or even a relationship. Will Jackson meet his match? Is the question

jordan

Jordan- a young black woman that is beautiful, successful and single with no ifs, ands or buts about it in her world. She wants to live only in her accomplishments without having to deal with the work that a relationship requires or even a steady male companion has to offer. Jordan always makes sure her dating card is booked however, she makes it known who will get desert and who will go without until she feels like it ( catch my drift). But will somebody come along that makes Jordan rethink her stance….

monica

Monica- the young black woman we all know one just like her who is bashful, full of positivity, works hard, kind hearted, but chases after the same guy all the time. She is the friend we all love but no matter what you say to her she really never listens until it hits home. Monica is the friend that you want to protect at all times but you understand where she is coming from. Her situation ship with Darius is something we all know about very well but will things change between them two? Or will the always forgiving Monica still forgive and learn to move on?darius

Darius- a young black man, the hustler that always getting money and women all at the same time. He’s the one that gets all of the women but never deals with the headache of how they feel. Darius wants his cake and eat as many slices as he can. He’s a great friend to all but when it comes to women he could definitely change his ways up. So will the right woman come along and change him? Or will he remain in his “player” ways for a little while longer.
And that’s just the characters I described but wait until you watch the show itself. The show is based on the lives of each one of these individuals as well as their friendships with among each other. It’s a show that is very captivating on life as a young black person living in this society. The writers of this show really display life within the show and its only 4 episodes in! This is the amazing part.
There are so many realistic scenarios in this series that are eye catching and worth the watch each and every other Tuesday. I truly give this one a stamp of approval for young black youth to watch (and that’s for mature audiences only so for the 18 and up peeps only) because it insightful and the characters are touch base on other common issues within the black community.
Some topics discussed are the Bill Cosby incident, police brutality, black on black crime all of the things that most of us generally discuss among friends that need to be publicly discussed on television. The Tough Love Series is great on all aspects and I hope that many of you will join me in watching such an awesome show. And did I mention that the producers and directors are all BLACK?! So we definitely have to support that because I know I am definitely about supporting all my artists out there.
So tune in with me in 2 weeks where another show will be aired on YouTube but for now click the link and catch up so we can get together and keep talking about the show!
