It’s slightly under two minutes long, however from the short clip seen below, we have to admit that the “All Eyes On Me” movie trailer has us ready to see the long awaited movie, formerly titled “Tupac”.

It looks like we finally get to see the relationship he has with Jada, his experience of surviving being shanked in prison, and the pure roller-coaster legacy that was Tupac – all wrapped up into about 2.5 hours. Based on just the teaser, the actor playing Tupac appears to be convincing enough, Suge Knight, Afeni Shakur, even Jamal Woolard who will play Biggie all seem to be the right fit for the perspective roles. It’s hard to forget the nightmares of the Aaliyah and Whitney Houston biopics, so fans are on pins and needles, making sure casting and acting is done right! Tupac lived his life like an open book and fans were able to follow him more than your average celeb during this era, so if ANYTHING is out of place, real Tupac fans will know.

The Tupac biographical drama film is directed by Benny Boom, produced by LT Hutton, David C. Robinson, James G. Robinson and written by Steven Bagatourian, Stephen J. Rivele, Christopher Wilkinson, Ed Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft. Starring, Demetrius Shipp, Jr. (Tupac Shakur), Danai Gurira (Afeni Shakur), Kat Graham (Jada Pinkett), Dominic L. Santana (Suge Knight), Jamal Woolard (Biggie Smalls), Annie Ilonzeh (Kidada Jones), Lauren Cohan (Lelia Steinberg), Grace Gibson (Faith Evans), Harold House Moore (Dr Dre.)

We don’t know what’s in the water, but whatever it is we are loving it! We took a quick look at some of the coolest shows television has to offer this fall, and its refreshing to see so many young, black creators doing their thing on the big screen. From Web TV networks like Netflix and Hulu, to major networks, the melanin seems to be bringing in big revenue, big buzz, and big ratings. Check out some of our favorite shows to watch this fall!

5. Luke Cage (Netflix)

If you’re in to the Marvel Comics based shows, then you are definitely going to love this new web series on Netflix. The show is based on a Marvel Comics by the same name (Luke Cage). Actor Mike Colter stars as a former convict with superhuman strength (of course) who fights crime.

4. Pitch (Fox September 22nd)

We Loved the promos for this series, if you have any young teen girls then this show is a DO. Actress Kylie Bunbury takes us through the ups and downs of being a woman in an all-male sport. She becomes the first woman to play in the league as a pitcher for the San Diego Padres.

3. Queen Sugar (OWN)

You already know if Oprah cosigns it and Ava DuVernay creates it, then dammit, we gotta watch! Most of us are already hooked after the first episode. The show takes us on a journey to the heart of New Orleans. Three siblings, two sisters and a brother claim their inheritance from their father who recently passed. It all takes place on an 800-acre sugarcane farm, and just from the different dynamics of the personalities of each sibling, this is sure to be an emotional cinematic experience. Just in case you don’t have cable, you can still check out the first episode of Queen Sugar that left everyone on Twitter in tears. Download the OWN app on your mobile device or pad and watch FREE.

2. Atlanta (FX)

If you haven’t seen hip-hop artist Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino in action as an actor on the big screen, then you’re going to be pleasantly surprised. Atlanta is the place that has created some of the worlds greatest hip-hop artists. This FX series graces us with the life of a simple trio who’s one goal is to make it big in the rap industry. The hilarious differences between the three main characters, one a rapper, the the other a manager and cousin of the rapper, and the third, their strange best friend, already has us ready to see what happens next. You can check out the first episode below.

1. Insecure (HBO)

We all fell in love with Isa Rae and her witty antics during the first season of Awkward Black Girl on YouTube. Now, Isa is a boss and premiering this new, fresh comedy on HBO. We chose Insecure as our Number 1 show to watch this fall because we can already tell THIS series is going to be totally relatable and totally hilarious. Isa takes us on a racy journey of the trials, tribulations, and drama of being a modern-day African-American woman.

20-yr-old @Omeretta4L has single-handedly made herself a twitter sensation simply by spitting bars. If the industry is in search of more women in hip-hop, then the young rapper out of Atlanta, Georgia might be the answer.

She calls herself “Omeretta The Great” and she’s been taking over the Twitter timeline with videos from her house, rapping about what any average 20-yr-old young woman is rapping about, relationships, guys, and the issues that come when relationships and guys are combined. According to the gossip site Bossip, the Georgia hip-hop prodigy’s ultimate goal is to become an artist so that she can take care of her family the way her dad would have wanted her to before he passed last year.

Celebrities have definitely taken notice of her talent, Jussie Smollet of Empire and Reginae Carter seem to also be big fans of the young Twitter Spitter. Good luck Omeretta – looks like ATL wins again!

I think it’s safe to say that we have failed our brothers and sisters in Louisiana. Not sure if it is because we have been distracted with all of the good news from the Olympic games, or whether we simply dropped the ball. At this point it doesn’t matter, Southeast Louisiana continues to experience exponential levels of flooding. Based on a recent Huffington Post article, “The Flood of 2016” here are some frightening stats:

  • Between August 12th through August 14th, 4 TRILLION gallons of rain fell
  • 20,000 residents have been rescued
  • 12,000 people are in shelters
  • at last count, ten people have died
  • 11 rivers have had all time record highs

While cheering on our country, or while watching the latest video of another person being attached by the police, we have yet to even attempt to gauge how we can assist families in southeast Louisiana. President Barack Obama has declared a federal emergency, and here are some ways you can assist in helping residents in the gulf:

RHO EPSILON CHAPTER OF ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY AT LOUISIANA STATE UNIV – distributing $500 gift cards to families and students directly affected by the floods

SALVATION ARMY – assisting with disaster relief resources – canteens (mobile feeding units), clean up and hygiene kits and sending support personnel to affected areas. Donate money or volunteer

AMERICAN RED CROSS – providing meals and shelters for residents. Click link to donate, or text LAFLOODS TO 90999 to donate $10 or volunteer HERE

LOUISIANA STRONG – GoFundMe campaign that will distribute toiletry care packages

VOLUNTEER LOUISIANA– looking for people willing to assist in the response and recovery efforts

UNITED WAY OF LOUISIANA – looking for donations or volunteers

SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF GREATER N.O. & ACADIANA– distributing thousands of pounds of food, and water to victims.

CONVOY OF HOPE – providing food, water, equipment and relief supplies

SAVE THE CHILDREN – establishes specialized spaces within emergency shelters where children’s unique needs can be met
