“Black Friday” the mixtape with only 2 tracks but they are SO FIRE! That no one CARES!

These two FIRE rappers jumped on each other track and WOW!

Kendrick Lamar- SNAPS on “Tale of 2 Cities”

J.Cole –WENT OFF on “Alright”

I mean I almost fell off the couch because of the FIRE they both delivered! Then J.Cole said he dropping something in February! But that tracks cuts off so he left it a mystery.

*Calms Down*

Okay so much awesome music dropped this weekend it was ridiculous! Mixtapes were dropping left and right even the internet broke at one point it was so much downloading going on this weekend. Everything was clearly a must cop! Everybody’s playlist should be on FLEEK! With the release of dope albums last week to these mixtapes that were all surprises this week!

FIRST UP!!!!

Erykah Badu aka Madulla Obluganta aka Analog Girl in A Digital World, FatbellyBella, Annie, DJ. Low Down Loretta Brown, the A the P the P the L..L..E.S! ( you gotta be a fan to know all her names)

Drops the long awaited mixtape “But You Can’t Use My Phone! “

This mixtape is FIRE! I mean legit! And no I am not just saying that because I love her! I mean from top to bottom this mixtape is literally dope and there is no reason to turn it off! It was even full of surprises! And take a guess as to what they were….

The first one was ANDRE 3000!!!!!!! On the mixtape! Yes the collaboration everyone has been waiting on has finally happened! Erykah Badu and Andre 3000 on a track together! The name of the track is entitled “Hello” and 3 Stacks kills the verse as always! This was well worth the wait as fans hope that the rapper changes his mind and gives the fans at least one album! Even if it’s all remixes to his former tracks we will take it!

Next it was the fact that Erykah tweeted that she had a “Burn out” phone and had secretly hid her number on the covers for each track she dropped so that fans could call her! You talking about her phone were LIT for two days in a row! I was sad that I was unable to get through to speak with her personally; I probably would’ve played it cool but try to take up enough time so that nobody could get through. I mean she’s Erykah Badu.

Then on top of EVERYTHING! So many people thought Drake was on the mixtape because there were several tracks were it sounded like Drake. But if you were really listening it was someone different, and to top it off she tweeted

“Drake is not on the mixtape”

Turns out it was her son SEVEN (Andre’s son)! No wonder the lyrics were so dope! I mean his dad is Andre 3 stacks! So of course he has bars! By the way her mixtape broke ITunes because there were so many people trying to buy it …the site had the tracks out of order and some people couldn’t get onto the site.

Then Wayne then drops “No Celings 2” and GUESS WHO HE BROUGHT BACK FOR THE FIRST TRACK?!……

Now I will say off gate I thought this was going to be a terrible mixtape!, because after “Sorry For the Wait, I was so sorry I waited “…because he gave me hope with “No Ceilings” and then he came back with an album that helped me believe in him again but then I ‘m listening to the mixtape and who do I hear?

“Man….Man..Mannie FRESH”! Now if you are hip hop head and certainly if you are a true Wayne fan then you know MANNIE! Being on anything is DOPE! And the production of the track was dope just as he always does. This was EPIC! And as you are listening you get another surprise….CURREN$Y is on the mixtape as well! Now for my true fans you know it’s been a long time since these two did a track together especially after Curren$y left Cash Money years ago.

I have to say it was awesome to see these two working together. But wait let me back up…who remembers Turk? From Cash Money? Okay well I found him a couple of months ago on Twitter and he’s still rapping, well if anyone remembers it was really Turk that was the illest rapper out of the group (no debate) but he’s on the mixtape! To! And still got BARS!

I honestly believe Wayne went back and grabbed the real ones from Cash Money and decided to go in! And it worked.

Alright so here are the other projects that dropped this weekend as well.

Fabolous with the “Summertime Shoutout” mixtape which is Fire of course! I mean its Fabolous! So you expect nothing less. Go get it is all I’m going to say! I mean if you were following him when he was dropping freestyle every Friday then you know this is just what Fab does which is deliver jams!

Chris Brown- Before the Party -34 songs of pure raw content but he’s being himself which is what I am excited about. The one track “Holy Angel” that features Pusha T is dope because both are telling their stories of how their lives have been since they have been in the industry so it’s a must listen to !.

Rick Ross-Renzel Remixes, this one was alright. He basically took a lot of songs and remixed them which were good. I mean Rick Ross never really disappoints so definitely go get it if you are a fan.

Trey Songz- To Whom it May Concern – Trigga Trey is back with that sound we all love, all I’m a say is that he might be the reason that cheating becomes an epidemic and I’m a leave it at that! Lol.

Alright Hunties that’s it for this week!. I’ll be back with some more soon.

Update

"Why cancer"

A video posted by Boosie BadAzz (@officialboosieig) on

: Boosie works on a song called “Why Cancer”

Today, in an Instagram comment that was posted, and then shortly deleted, rapper Boosie announced that he had kidney cancer. In the comments section, the rapper stated,

“I need all my fans to pray for me, Doctor just told me I have cancer on my kindeys. Prayer is power, that’s why I’m letting the world know. PrayForBoosie.

Boosie has been very vocal in the past about the fight that he has had with his health. He discusses his bout with his diabetes, which has been known to affect some of his show performances. The news regarding him having cancer comes as a shock, as the 33 year-old Baton Rouge rapper has been enjoying his freedom after being acquitted of murder and serving extra time for smuggling marijuana in prison.

Like Boosie, we here at Syllabus also believe in the power of prayer, so we will be praying for Boosie having a clean bill of health.

As I gather up the nerves to write this blog, Chicago protesters are marching calmly through the streets tonight in protest of the murder of 17-year-old, Laquan McDonald. Laquan was shot 16 times, as he walked away from the police while they searched the streets for a person who neighbors claimed had broken into cars. As Laquan walked away holding a 3 inch knife in his hand, Officer van Dyke shot him 16 times, even after he was already on the ground. The family has already won a $5 million dollar settlement from the city of Chicago, now they are seeking justice in the form of a first degree murder conviction, at most.

The video of Laquan being shot down has been kept from the public for over a year, and finally they released the video amidst the charges being brought upon the officer for murder. Investigators both federal and state went through the video second by second to try to figure out what happened. Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said Van Dyke had been on site less than 30 seconds, and out of his car for six seconds, when he started shooting; no other officer at the scene fired any shots.

Tonight, activists are calling for calm; and we can’t blame them because – this IS Chicago. In a city notorious for violence, people all across social media are giving the city of Chicago a hard time for making what they call, a “big deal” about this particular murder. With one of the highest murder rates in the country, people across the country are very cynical about the murder of Laquan McDonald. But, we would caution the cynics to remember, as police officers, they are placed in their positions to protect and to serve – and uphold the law. Only a trial will determine whether this officer will be punished for the murder of Laquan; or if he will walk among many of his counterparts who have been found not guilty and have the ability to walk away, without punishment.

While one would agree that the issues facing the youth of Chicago are substantial – the number of young black men who die at the hands of other black men are sad reflection of some deep rooted issues within our culture. At the same time, we are left to fight a battle with the very people who have taken a vow to protect and serve. Young black men who are trying to do right have to beware of the killers that look like them AND the killers portraying themselves as officers.

Today, we cannot simply surmise how to control the criminals of the Chicago streets, or streets in any town; criminals who gun down young men over turf, drugs, beef or power. This is a work in progress where communities will have to get involved with their youth to figure out what is continuously causing this behavior. Today however, we must address the modern day lynchings that keep happening within our communities, where white/black officers feel they have been granted the power to take a life of another person, simply because they have on a hood, they didn’t put out a cigarette, they were playing with a toy gun (Tamir was a CHILD), or they are walking away. What the police are doing are modern day lynchings and even in 2015, they are walking away with a slap on the wrist. In the early 1900s, journalist Ida B. Wells stated:

“In fact, for all kinds of offenses – and, for no offenses – from murders to misdemeanors, men and women are put to death without judge or jury; so that, although the political excuse was no longer necessary, the wholesale murder of human beings went on just the same.”

In 2015, everything that Ida B Wells wrote about still rings true today; as clear as a bell. Until police are held accountable for their acts of terror against innocent citizens, the same way any criminal is brought to justice for murdering another citizen – there will be no pause in our fight for justice, there will be no slack in holding lawmakers and police (good and bad cops) accountable, and there can be no rest in the fight for black lives.
