Hard Work Pays Off

10 year old Taio Taylor is headed to Belgium to compete with some of the best BMX bike racers from across the world. The 10-year-old started racing BMX bikes 3 years ago alongside her big brother, in Albuquerque; when she started, her whole family decided to race just for fun. Well, fun for Taylor turned into her competing in local competitions, where she started to win. Now, Taylor has worked hard enough to qualify to compete to race in Belgium, where she will represent the U.S.A. in the BMX World Championship.

Although Taylor admitted that she was afraid, because most of the girls who compete in BMX have been riding since they could walk, she’s realized she has a certain determination. This determination hasn’t been ignored, because now, she is gaining actual local and national sponsorship opportunities.

In March 2019, Taio Taylor competed in the national BMX competitions held in Alberquerque, and she was the winner in her division, defeating people who had come from all over the country. This win gained her a spot in the BMX World Championship to compete.

She is raising money for her Belgium competition happening in July. She’s selling t-shirts and has set up a GoFundMe, if you would like to help, click the links and donate!

Real Talk, Clemson…

It’s been about two days since the fine Clemson Tigers from my home state of South Carolina, stepped into the White House for what we thought would be a celebration fit for kings of collegiate football. Instead, what we saw was more like a feast fit for a few fat five year olds.

Accept the Invite From Quavo; You Deserve Better Damnit

As a proud Gamecock, i’m putting my boxing gloves and autographed 5×7 portrait of Cocky to the side, and I’m crossing the lines of the battlefield in order to tell my collegiate arch rivals that, hey – You Deserve Better (cue sentimental music). To my orange brothers from the upstate, you ended the season with a 15-0 perfect record! You proved yourselves to not only be just as good as Alabama – you’re better. This football team is the first 15-0 major college team in football history – like WTF?! Even despite a few setbacks, and set-ups; y’all DID DAT! Which is why i’m putting my Carolina Gamecock pride to the side and demanding that all of South Carolina stand together to plea for you all to have the celebration you deserve! And this can only be brought to you buy Quavo from The Migos. Yes, i’m here to tell you to ACCEPT THE INVITE!

We’ll Talk About Why You Even Accepted His Invite Later…

Yes, we saw your wonderful parade, that was cute, but of course your visit to the White House should have been the icing on the cake. Now, we won’t sit here and question why in the hell you even accepted an invite to that place – partisan lines aside. But, no for real – why TF did you all accept an invitation to that place though? Either way, you accepted it and i’m sure it was because a few of you are probably fans of the President. I mean, I kind of understand, he’s Orange – you’re Orange; I get it. However, serving championship athletes two-for-one Big Macs from hood McDonald’s in D.C. is not only out of order, it’s out-of-line and it’s damn near disrespectful!

Imagine a Quavo/Tiger Celebration…I Can See It Now

That’s why I am here to encourage whoever needs to hear this. Accept the invite from Quavo, I can picture it now. A catered food spread to die for, flowing with lobster, shrimp, steak, grits, chicken and waffles catered by Private Chef Corey of Live From the Kitchen. For the few of you old enough to drink – Gold Bottle Ace of Spades, D’usse, Pelligrino, and Hawaiian Punch, and red Kool-aid for the rest of you. A playlist that stands the test of time, from Versace and Hannah Montana all the way to Lamb Talk and Workin’ Me. And of course, girls will be there (ok they’ll be strippers, but they’re still girls, right)? It’s finna be a ratchet, boughetto, good time! And yes, some of your teammates from Pickens, Easly, and Greelyville won’t understand anything being said, but none of that matters when you’re eating lobster and watching stripp…girls! Last but not least, imagine the adlibs they’ll create just from hanging around the team: “win like a Clem-son Tiger (win); roll like we goin higher (tide, tide, tide, tide, skrt)” – or something like that.

Dance Wit My Dogs In The Nighttime Tho

Let’s face it, the President can barely get a championship team to accept any of his invites to the White House, and then finally, a team accepts and this is what he did to you all? Is This Your King?! The internet had McDonald’s jokes for three whole days after this KFC kerfuffle. But, now you can redeem your White House experience – go ahead, dance with my dogs in the nighttime; accept Quavo’s invite.

Let’s Put Our Rebel Flags & Red Rice Aside, and Let’s Come Together

Trust me, it’s hard for South Carolinians to come together on any matter, however, Rebel flags and red rice aside. Let’s come together as an ass-backward red state and stand united in harmony for at least once in our lives. You deserve better Clemson Tiger Football team, and Quavo can help you get what you deserve. Congrats fellas.

He’s 19 years old and he’s donating his earnings after every match to charity, because he believes he doesn’t need to be paid to represent his country. His name is Kylian Mbappe and he made history at the World Cup when he became France’s youngest scorer ever at a major tournament. This amazing athlete however, is not interested in being paid for his efforts; he’s donating all of his earnings and bonuses to Premiers de Cordees association and other charitable .

“So yes, there is money at stake. But I do not care. I do not play for that.” – Kylian-Mbappe

The Premiers de Cordees association is that arranges sports activities for children with disabilities, and Mbappe is a godfather to this organization. Premiers isn’t the only organization that will benefit from the athlete’s generosity; Mbappe will be donating to a different organization after every game. Apparently, the athletes playing for France are very dedicated to their country, teammate Samuel Umtiti has also claimed he doesn’t need to be paid to play for France either.

This past Saturday, France beat Argentina in what was marked as, “one of the greatest World Cup Games of all time“.

F You; Pay Me

Many remember back in 2001 when Charleston, SC native and Brunswick’s Glynn Academy star, Kwame Brown was the number 1 draft pick, and chosen by the Washington Wizards to enter the NBA. Brown was picked up straight out of high school and that’s every young kids’ dream – right? Well, very often dreams can turn into nightmares when you’re facing a new world of new people, new challenges, and new money. According to court documents, Brown is now suing Merrill Lynch, Bank of America and his former financial advisor, Michelle Marquez.

The deal was that Brown hired these institutions to handle a $17 million investment. The investor, Michelle, would invest, trade and collect on behalf of Brown, from 2004 til 2017. As far as investing and trading, his financial advisor was free to trade and move money around, but only with Brown’s consent. Brown is claiming Michelle Marquez did the following:

  • Opened several bank accounts in his name without his knowledge
  • Deposited money into these secret bank accounts
  • Invested and traded Brown’s money from these secret bank accounts
  • Collected the commission from trading with these secret bank accounts

Brown is also claiming in 2006, after he borrowed $1.1 million and instructed Marquez to pay it off immediately, she did not pay off the loan. Instead, she decided to convert the unpaid portions into a line of credit. Kwame Brown didn’t find out most of the details of what was going on until 2015, and says he never approved many of these transactions. He is also claming that these unauthorized dealings have caused him to have significant financial losses.

in 2017, Brown claims he tried to get in touch with Marquez but could never get her on the phone to talk about these matters, even though he could always get her on the phone prior to finding out about the questionable transactions. Now Merrill Lynch and Bank of America is telling Brown that he currently has no money with either of these institutions. He was told that he authorized for Merrill Lynch and Bank of America to trade, invest, and control his money. And it appears that they did just that – invested $17 million and ended with $0. To make matters worse, Brown is claiming he believes documents with his signature to authorize were forged, and he’s hired forensic experts to confirm.

Brown’s lawyer is seeking the return of his $17 million dollar investment, plus damages. During his 13 year career with the NBA, he earned around $64 million; and although that’s a lot of money, Brown wants his coins. By the way, media outlets have reached out to Michelle Marquez for comments – so far she hasn’t returned any calls.

Maame Biney (1) reacts after winning women's 500-meter A final race during the U.S. Olympic short track speedskating trials Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, in Kearns, Utah. (AP Photo/R Bowmer)

Remember the name Maame Biney and look out for her in the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in Beijing. The 17-year-old Ghana native just beat three Olympians, Lana Gehring, Jessica Kooreman and Katherine Reutter-Adamek, in the 500 meter speed skating finals on this past Saturday, qualifying her as the newest member of the U.S. Speedskating Olympic team, making her the first black woman in history to qualify.

With her father in the stands cheering her on with a homemade sign that read, “Kick some hiney Biney“, that’s exactly what she did! In her second final, she maintained a pace that helped her in taking an early lead; then crossing the finish line she got so excited she fell down after losing her balance. That however, didn’t stop her from laughing and enjoying the moment that was a historical victory.

Maame Biney the second black skater to be a member of the speedskating team; Shani Davis first qualified for the team at the age of 19. Davis is now 35 and will also compete to make the long track speedskating team on next month.

In an interview with ESPN, Biney went on to explain her first reaction to the news:“I can’t believe it, aww geez, It’s a really good feeling, but it has to set in first because it takes me a while. I’m like, ‘holy cow.”

Congratulations to this teenage Olympian sensation, and in the words of her father; kick some hiney Biney!
