Former President Barack Obama has launched an initiative that will bring together civic leaders from various communities around the country, and throughout the world. The first-ever Obama Foundation Summit will take place in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois on October 31st through November 1st. The summit will be held at the future site of the Obama Presidential Center. The goal of this summit is to bring together young leaders from various places across the country in order to gain information intended to bring about change within communities across the United States, and throughout the world.

We know that as a community activist, Obama’s holds a strong place in his heart for any young person working to make a difference within their own community. This summit isn’t just a place where young people come and listen to speakers; this will be a chance to gain the tangible tools needed to take back to communities and get to work. There are training courses, skill-building, individual coaching and mentoring, and exposure to larger opportunities for these young leaders. This is a once-in- lifetime opportunity for any person looking to become an outstanding civic innovator within their community.

The site’s official announcement:

On October 31st and November 1st, the Obama Foundation will welcome civic leaders from around Chicago, the U.S., and the world to join us for a two-day immersive event in Chicago. During this inaugural Summit, hundreds of leaders from around the world will come together to exchange ideas, explore creative solutions to common problems, and experience civic art, technology, and music from around the world.
