Here’s some Monday Motivation! Meet 16-yr-old Darius Washington out of Monroe, Louisiana. Darius already has an impressive resume for a teen; he’s graduating early, he’s a National Merit Scholar Finalist, he takes all honors classes, and he recently earned a spot at Nationals in Chicago for his Quiz Bowl Team.
In preparation for college, Darius has been prepping himself for the ACT. The 16-yr-old has taken the test a few times, but even with all of that preparation Darius was in shock at what would happen next.
Around midnight Darius was able to check the results of his ACT test and learned he has earned a 36 on the ACT test, which is a rare, perfect score! His parents Marish and Sonica Washington, are very proud and his mom and aunt shared the news online, which quickly went viral. Neville High School’s Assistant Principal, Whitney Martin even gave Darious a pat-on-the-back, “We are not surprised, but we are very proud.”
Darius, in all his perfect score, teenage wisdom, has shared some pointers with other students in how to prepare for their upcoming scholastic tests and exams:
- “He advises other students not to stress too much over the exam because that will burn them out before they take the test.”
- “Manage your time wisely because if you run out of time that directly affects your score. If you don’t get to questions, then you can’t answer them.”
Darius has plans to major in Computer Science at the University of Louisiana in Monroe. He also hope to snag a job at CenturyLink or IBM. With this impressive resume, we are sure Darius won’t have any problems excelling in his career! Check out his interview below.
