Wild Wing 25

So if you’re from Charleston, you probably watched the drama of the Wild Wing vs. Mike London and crew unfold right before your eyes. Approximately twenty African American’s were turned away from Wild Wings on Rivers Avenue, because one White woman was uncomfortable with them being there. Now because of my sick sense of humor, the sight of about twenty blacks posing for a picture outside of a chicken joint in the rain, sent my mind racing with stupid inside jokes. But, what happened to this group of individuals was no laughing matter – and frankly if I had been there, I’m certain I would not have found this funny at all.

Seeing the initial post of one voice stating their disgust with Wild Wings, Mike London’s comment was one I read, but did not necessarily pass by like I do with the majority of Facebook postings. I actually clicked to read the hundreds of comments that went along with his complaint. Now what we all know here in Charleston, is that Mike London aint exactly a “nobody” , nah – What CNN and the rest of the world may not know, is this is Mike – you know – F.O.C.U.S. Mike. Did they not know who they were messing with!! This was Mike – you know Royal Baptist Church, set the crowd on Fire Mike! LOL, I’m joking but Wild Wings was not prepared for this type of pressure by any means!

Mike London or Brown or Michael from F.O.C.U.S – or whatever you want to call him, set off a firestorm, which started from a Facebook protest to an international protest, featured on the Huffington Post, CNN and Sandra Rose. Mike made more noise than the people running for political office and he did it all with the stroke of a keyboard – so if you didn’t believe in the power of the Internet before, this should definitely change your mind.

At the end of the day, good for them! I’m glad they took a stand and conducted themselves with dignity and class, not only that – they were smart about the situation, smart and bold. I’m still anxious to hear what the owners have to say about the situation – but I’m sure this story isn’t over by any means…we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, there are plenty of African American spots that serve chicken – I’ll meet you there! In the meantime, peep this Live 5 News Interview
