This weekend T.I. took to his social media pages to talk about black celebrities meeting with Donald Trump. As the African American community debates whether or not a meeting with Donald Trump is a sign of working against the best interest of blacks, there were several high profile people who took the time to briefly discuss their Trump encounters this past MLK weekend.
One important warning T.I. shared on his Facebook page was him cautioning celebs about being bamboozled, the rapper stated, “Be clear, There is an agenda behind all these meetings. I shall explain in detail. Be aware. Be alert. Or, Be Bamboozled!”
Many people on social media blasted a few celebs, including Steve Harvey and Martin Luther King III, saying they were being used as pawns on a weekend where we should be concentrating our efforts to celebrate and honor Dr. King. This quote from Malcolm X was shared on Twitter and Facebook
T.I. cosigned his epic Facebook rants with the release of #LetterToTheSystem ; this message to Donald Trump eloquently attempts to explain how a sector of the population is feeling about the election of Trump, the rhetoric he used during his campaign, and the anger and hate witnessed throughout this last election.
“Should it ever seem at times as though we are against you; I assure you its a result of you defining yourself as the representative of those who are, and always have been against us.”
Despite what T.I. may have going on in his personal life, we always appreciate the outspoken rapper who continues to keep pop culture and politics connectedm and make young people aware of what’s going on in these political streets! Thank you T.I.

“They seem to view our diversity as a threat to be contained rather than as a resource to be tapped. They tell us to be afraid of those who are different, to be suspicious of those with whom we disagree. They act as if name-calling is an acceptable substitute for thoughtful debate. As if anger and intolerance should be our default state rather than optimism and openness that have always been the engine of our progress.”
These are a eloquent words First Lady Michelle Obama delivered to the 2016 graduation class at City College in New York City. As 2016 winds down and the political race for our next President heats up, the President and his Wife are continuing to make their mark in the history books. We can see it daily, especially within the last year, the Obamas are creating legislation and addressing many issues that are adversely affecting the poor and black/Hispanic communities. This commencement speech is one of the most powerful, politically fueled and motivational speeches we have heard thus far from the First Lady. it almost appears as if she is taking direct shots at Donald Trump and those with similar views as Trump.
“The greatness of the United States, has never come from folks who climbed the ladder of success or who happened to be born near the top and then pulled the ladder up after themselves. No, uh-uh, Our greatness has always come from people who expect nothing and take nothing for granted, folks who work hard for what they have and then reach back and help others after them. That is your story, graduates, and that is the story of your families. And it’s the story of my family, too.”
Man, just admit it! We are going to miss this First Family! (crying emoji)

UPDATE: 5/19/16
The House of Representatives voted today 265-159, to ban the display of the Confederate flag on flagpoles at Veteran cemeteries. The vote blocks descendants and anyone else from flying the flag over mass graves, even on days the flag displays are permitted.
Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn is coming for the Citadel Military College of Charleston, S.C and taking his grievances over the Confederate Flag all the way to Washington. Clyburn is bringing the debate over the display of the Confederate flag in South Carolina to his colleagues in Congress.
The issues regarding the Confederate Flag being raised in South Carolina run deep. Clyburn is adamantly speaking against the symbol, which he calls “a symbol of hate, racial oppression, and resistance to the rule of law.” Due to these beliefs from him and so many of his constituents, Clyburn has proposed and amendment that would bar federal funds from going to any senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs at institutions where the Confederate flag is being displayed.
Currently, if you travel onto The Citadel’s campus in downtown Charleston, the Confederate Flag flies proudly at the Summerall Chapel. Clyburn believes the flag was never a symbol of the official flag of the confederacy and is bothered that is still flies in his congressional district.
Rep. Jim Clyburn is also calling out S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson who barred the flag’s removal citing the Heritage Act passed in 2000. This act, according to Wilson bars the Citadel from removing the flag from a prominent place on campus. Clyburn’s is telling Washington, “Americans’ tax dollars should be directed to institutions free of symbols of hatred” and should not be covered by the Heritage Act.
Last summer, The Citadel Board of Visitors voted 9-3 to remove the flag, but acknowledged it would require an amendment to the Heritage Act by the state legislature.
