Charleston NIghtlife

We all have seen it! You’re on King Street at about 1:45 am, the streets are packed with College Kids /Tourists/Locals, etc. who have been drinking all night! They are stumbling out of the clubs and through the streets and they are loud and sometimes, things can get out of hand. Well the Mayor and Police Chief feel like they have a solution, and it involves the Club Owners becoming the New Police Squad.

Saw this video posted today on Facebook, I think it was KillaSkip that originally posted it. Its an interesting conversation about whether staying independent is the way to go instead of shopping for a record deal, which many successful artists have been able to do in the past. So Artists, what do you think, with today’s access to the mainstream media via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, websites, blogs, etc…. Do you really need a “Deal” in this day and age? Comment below and let us know what you think.

Did you catch Charleston’s own Shovels & Rope making their television network debut on David Letterman last night. Check them out! Who’s Shovel’s and Rope…look ain’t all about hip-hop, we’re about good music, so if you are too learn more about these rockers on www.shovelsandrope.com

Shovels and Rope is a Charleston, SC band consisting of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Formed in 2010, they sing harmony driven folk, rock and country songs using two old guitars, a kick drum, a snare, a few tambourines, harmonicas, and and maybe a little keyboard sometimes. They tour constantly as a two piece, making as much noise as they can.
