In the June 2014 issue of Syllabus, we get to check out rapper Ceeza Luciano. In this in-depth interview with writer Tamera Rios, Ceeza discusses his interesting and complicated family life. He also talks about how he developed his sound and how he “studied” different types of artist and sounds, while crafting his own sound.

Ceeza has had many name changes, which is a reflection of his growth as an artist, and we all know with growth, comes a rebirth. We look forward to sharing Ceeza Luciao – A Lyricist – Reborn. June 2014!

Check out one of Ceeza Luciano’s newest tracks, his dedication to Hip-Hop- “Everything” produced by MKSB.

So Charleston’s Mayor Riley and his motley crew have decided to draft a city ordinance that would require NEW bars and restaurants to close at midnight instead of 2am. Apparently Charleston City Council has already voted in favor of this idea 12-1.

This ordinance for New businesses include the areas of Market, King, Meeting, East Bay streets. Any existing businesses will be granfathered in, according to city officials.

Now let me be the first to say I don’t think this ordinance is fair for future business owners. How will they have a fair chance of succeeding when everyone knows Alcohol sales at existing bars and restaurants in this city is what keeps these businesses alive. From that perspective, I totally disagree with this ordinance.

HOWEVER, what surprises me most regarding this issue is the number of people “banning” together for this particular cause. Like really, people are actually on Facebook planning a serious Coup against the Mayor and city officials.

Man listen, we have a city filled with violent crime, our school system is teetering on the brink of failure, and people are fighting for jobs and pay raises. To see so many people ban together so that drunk College of Charleston kids and have 2 extra hours of drinking is confusing to me.

When the Mayor implemented Gentrification 2.0 on downtown Charleston, we didn’t hear anyone cry foul on how many families and communties were displaced. Now you all want to do a MLK march down King St?? man #ByeFelicia – When they vowed to put “AFFORDABLE HOUSING” in downtown Charleston, but instead what we see now is $300,000 condos, we heard a few murmurs, we had discussions on local radio, but still – no one cried. Now you all want to ban together for what now?? I’m confused.

I know, i know its a serious subject for business owners; FUTURE businesses will have some sort of limitation on their access to entry when it comes to the bar and restaurant opportunities in the downtown area. And lets face it, our mayor has a PERSONAL interest in this particular area since he is connected to many properties/hotels/land in Charleston. (This RULE does not apply to hotels – aint that a bitch), but what bothers me most is the stern reaction I see on Fakebook Facebook of people really preparing to go to county council, and ban together for this “cause”. These same people have kids – wonder how many PTA meetings they went to this past school year?

Listen, do what you want. Most people really could care less is people stay out until 6am; but the next time someone gets shot, I hope it draws as much attention as a couple hours of tom foolery on King Street.

To all of my fellow Gamecocks, much love to you all! We have come a long, long, long, long way baby. I remember the days where we could barely win a game! I remember getting a job as a “ticket-taker” at the front gate of Williams-Brice Stadium in the ratchet beautiful, Columbia, SC. We were dressed in Khakis and a white shirt, and had thousands of people trying to bumrush our azzes just to go look at a team, who we knew were going to lose.

Ah yes, I remember there was a time where chicks on campus were getting pregnant for football players, and we couldn’t understand it because, damnit they weren’t going Pro – why are you fools ruining your lives for some college sports hero asshole?

I remember when Lou Holtz came to coach for the University of South Carolina and our ignorant minds couldn’t understand why they would hire someone who was over 100 years old to coach? (I didn’t know Lou was a Boss, my bad Lou).

I remember standing in those long lines at the Russell House because we wanted our free student football game tickets, even though we could have cared less about using them, we were just getting them because a friend of a friend was coming to town and wanted to see a game. Oh yeah, and then having to get a student ID for that friend of a friend so they could pass as a student. We were so clever and maniacal!

I remember looking forward to the pre/after-party for the football games, way more than the actual game. Hell I remember, (when I wasn’t “ticket-taking”) getting a nap in during the football games so I could be well-rested for the after-game parties! I mean who wants to see their school lose….again and again.

Oh and of course, I remember the notorious Clemson vs. University of SC games – our rivals! Clemson beat our asses every year that I attended college at USC! And how being a “ticket-taker” at the front-gate of a Clemson vs. USC game meant, “membership had its privileges”. Hell yes, strangers would offer us – sometimes $50 to let them in without a ticket – and did some of us let them in? Hell Yes, we were COLLEGE STUDENTS! Sheeet, don’t judge me! (Students, don’t try that now, they will put your azzes out of school).

OK, so fine, I wasn’t the greatest supporter of football during my 4 years at the University of South Carolina. But over the years, I have paid close attention to the team I once ignored as a college student. I have seen them grow. USC cut the check and brought in Washington Redskin’s coach Steve Spurrier and this dude, according to the garnetandblackattack.com, averages putting approximately 4.8 college players into the NFL Draft every year since his arrival in 2005. You go Spurrier! (Nae Nae-ing as I type this).

I’ve watched these dudes kick ass and take names throughout the years, repping the Gamecocks proudly and hell, they turned this fair-weather USC grad into a true fan. I’ve seen how Spurrier has molded our team into a 5-star force in college football. From: Marcus Lattimore, Sheldon Brown, John Abraham, Antonio Allen, Jasper Brinkley, Jared Cook, Clifton Geathers, Weslye Saunders, Alshon Jeffery – I can actually go on and on. We got to salute these dudes!

Now, we can add Jadeveon Clowney to this list, this is a dude they described as a “once-in-a-generation prospect”, claiming he looked like he should have been in the NFL since his high school days. Clowney lived up to his rep and of course he had some bumps along his journey, but on Thursday, May 9, 2014, it all paid off – making everyone in #GamecockNation proud, taking the title as the #1 Round Draft Pick in the NFL Draft.

So thank you Gamecocks for helping me to see the light, I apologize for not being a better fan while I was at College, but hey…I was an asshole (in my Gabby Sidibe voice).

By the way, Clemson fans….
• NFL No. 1 picks from Gamecocks: 2
• NFL No. 1 picks from Clemson: 0
